Unlawful Demolitions:HURMA Cautions LASBCA, Police

The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) has called on the management of the Lagos State Building Control Agency LASBCA to tread with caution and stop allowing the office to be further used as instruments of oppression on the poor and suffering Nigerians in Lagos State. According to HURMA report, the caution was necessitated by growing allegations of illegal house demolition exercises in Lagos State and as well using the Nigerian Police Force as instruments to subvert the rule of law. The most recent of this allegations was communicated to the office of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda HURMA few days ago on the corrupt and unlawful activities of LASBCA which happened on December 2nd, 2025 at No. 23/ 25 Popo-Ola Street, Lady-Lak, Bariga in Lagos State. The Lagos State Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, on Friday received the leadership of the South-West Arewa Community Renewed Hope Agenda for Asiwaju 2027 at the Lagos House, Alausa, where he expressed appreciation for their self-sponsored public engagement initiatives. He noted that the group’s consistency has enhanced civic awareness and strengthened community relations, particularly through activities that project government programmes and encourage constructive participation across the South-West region.
