  Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Tuesday visited former President Goodluck Jonathan. It was gathered that the APC candidate and Jonathan were in a closed-door meeting where they spoke on issues majorly around the presidential election next year. Tinubu said his visit to Jonathan was for consultation in his capacity as a former President of the country and an elder statesman. According to him, he sees leading Nigeria as going beyond partisan politics and seeks the support of all leading figures in Nigeria to brainstorm the best way to get the country on a right track. NDLEA arrests Lagos airport cleaner who leads drug syndicate

  Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a cleaner at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Sunday Ohiagu, alleged to be the lead of a drug syndicate at the international wing of the airport.  A statement on Sunday by the spokesman of the anti-narcotics agency, Femi Babafemi said Ohiagu was nabbed last Tuesday following the arrest of an intending passenger on Air Peace flight to Dubai, UAE, Obinna Osita who was arrested with three bags, two of which contained eight blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 4.25 kilogrammes concealed in cassava product, gari and crayfish.  Babafemi said one other member of the airport syndicate who works with Ohiagu has also been arrested while operatives are after another suspect. He said investigations revealed that a Dubai-based drug dealer recruited 42-year old Obinna, to traffic the drugs and equally contracted Ohiagu, a 34-year-old airport cleaner to create access for the unhindered passage...

LASG ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DIVERSION AT JONATHAN COKER

  The Lagos State Government has announced that there will be traffic diversion at the Jonathan Coker Level Crossing in the Fagba area of the State from Friday, 26th of August until Sunday, 28th of August 2022, between the hours of 10p.m and 3a.m daily due to the ongoing Nigerian Railway Modernisation Project (Lagos-Ibadan section) extending to Lagos Ports Apapa. A release signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said motorists can make use of Ashade Underpass, Adejobi and Toyin Crossing alternately. The statement said the Level Crossing at Jonathan Coker will be closed off to vehicular movement during the five hours to enable the contractors work seamlessly. Dr. Oladeinde gave assurance that the officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would manage vehicular movement along the axis, urging the motoring public to cooperate with the officers to minimise inconveniences.

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign  Council has urged the public to disregard  the list of members of the council being circulated on social media and published by some online news platforms. The Director of Media and Publicity of the Campaign, Mr. Bayo Onanuga said the list is not authorised and it is unofficial. He said the leadership of APC and the Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will formally unveil the campaign council in due time.  Mr. Onanuga noted that the party understands the interest of the general public in the APC and its presidential candidate and urged the media to exercise  more restraint in dissemination of information that are not correct.  While quoting the Secretary of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Court Remands Man For Setting BRT Bus Terminal On Fire

  An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court on Thursday ordered the remand of one Chinasa Michael, accused of setting fire to a BRT bus terminal at Oyingbo in Lagos during a protest in the year 2020 over alleged police abuses. The defendant, 21, who is unemployed and resides at No. 21, Ilogbo St., Apapa Road, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, arson, and causing the breach of peace. The magistrate, M.C. Ayinde, who refused to take the defendant’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional centre until 1 September, pending legal advice. Mrs Ayinde ordered that the case file should be duplicated and sent to the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. The prosecution counsel, Segun Oke, told the court that the offences were committed in October 2020 at the Oyingbo BRT bus terminal, Lagos.
