Breaking News:Labour Leader, Chief Frank Kokori Dies @80

 



An elder statesman and former general Secretary  of NUPENG,Chief Frank Ovie Kokori is dead


Chief Kokori according to his personal Assistant, died Thursday morning after battling with kidney related issue precisely  on his 80th birthday 


The former scribe of the most important labour unions had in early November 2023 cried out for assistance from the government to get him outside the country for better medical care, a call taken over by the Delta state governor..


The deceased was a fighter for democracy who stood against military occupation of the nation's administrative space, a stand that led him to several jail houses under the military.

    What a great loss to the Labour movement and Nigeria as a whole, he has contributed greatly to the emancipation of Nigeria workers, may the Lord grant him eternal rest.

Tafa Sego Escapes Assassination Attempt

The Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle Adio, popularly known as Tafa Sego, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Saturday  after six armed men reportedly stormed his residence in Surulere, Lagos, with the intent to kill him.  Fortunately, he was not at home at the time of the attack. Sources revealed that the assailants arrived his residence at Gbadamosi Close, Surulere, around 11pm on Saturday night .  Upon arrival, they encountered only the security guard, whom they tied up before ransacking the entire house in search of the union leader. It was gathered that Alhaji Tafa Sego had earlier left for an event with a few of his associates who had visited him earlier in the day. The invasion sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with residents expressing fear and concern over the unprecedented incident.
