Iyaloja-General, Chief (Mrs.) Dr. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, Pays Unannounced Visit to Sura Market, Assesses Traders’ Welfare and Offers Prayers

The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Dr. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, on Saturday paid an unannounced visit to Sura Market, located on Simpson Street, Lagos Island, as part of her continuous efforts to monitor the welfare of traders and promote peace and unity across markets in the country.

The surprise visit, which took traders and market leaders by excitement, was primarily aimed at assessing the well-being of market men and women while reinforcing the importance of harmony, cooperation, and stability within the trading community.

During her interaction with traders, Chief Tinubu-Ojo emphasized that peaceful coexistence remains the foundation for sustainable economic growth and development, particularly within market environments that serve as the backbone of Nigeria’s informal economy.

She urged traders to shun conflict, embrace dialogue, and work collectively to maintain an atmosphere that supports business growth and attracts customers.

“Peace and unity are essential for progress. When there is harmony in the market, businesses thrive, families are sustained, and the economy grows,” she stated.

The Iyaloja-General also offered special prayers for the traders, invoking God’s blessings, protection, favor, and prosperity upon them in the new year 2026 and beyond. She prayed for increased sales, good health, divine guidance, and continued peace across all markets in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Speaking on behalf of the traders, the Iya Oja of Sura Market, Alhaja Raliat Adebayo Agbeke, expressed deep appreciation to the Iyaloja-General for the unexpected visit, describing it as a demonstration of genuine leadership and compassion.

According to her, the visit reflected Chief Tinubu-Ojo’s motherly disposition and hands-on leadership style, noting that her presence brought encouragement and renewed hope to the traders.

“We are grateful for her surprise visit to personally check on our welfare and pray for us. This shows her commitment, humility, and love for market men and women,” she said.

Despite being unannounced, the visit recorded a large and cheerful turnout as traders gathered to welcome the Iyaloja-General, offering prayers, chants, and expressions of goodwill in appreciation of her concern for their wellbeing.

The visit forms part of Chief (Mrs.) Dr. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo’s ongoing grassroots engagement initiatives aimed at strengthening unity, improving welfare, and sustaining peaceful coexistence among traders across markets nationwide.
