LAGOS ANNOUNCES SIX-WEEK TRAFFIC DIVERSION FOR APONGBON BRIDGE REPAIRS
The Lagos State Government has announced a six-week traffic diversion for the repair of Apongbon Bridge, starting February 5, 2026. The repairs, carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works, aim to fix failed asphalt sections of the ramp/service lane linking Inner Marina to Apongbon Bridge, as well as parts of the bridge's inbound and outbound lanes.
The diversion will be implemented in phases, beginning with the service lane, and motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly. Here are the affected areas and alternative routes:
• Inbound Apongbon Traffic (Service Lane Repairs): From Inner Marina, take Apongbon under-bridge roundabout → Adeniji Adele Road → Ebute Ero → ramp to Apongbon/Eko Bridge.
• Outbound Apongbon Traffic: From Eko Bridge to Inner Marina, divert via Ebute Ero Ramp → Adeniji Adele Road → Apongbon under-bridge roundabout.
• Main Carriageway Repairs: Motorists heading to Outer Marina, CMS, Victoria Island, and Third Mainland Bridge will be diverted through Ebute Ero Ramp → Leventis → Outer Marina/CMS.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urges motorists to exercise patience and comply with traffic management measures. Traffic personnel will be deployed to guide motorists and minimize inconvenience.
