  The Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation (WOCO), has condemned in strong terms, the ongoing vandalisation of its billboards by people it refers to as 'pained competitors giving up too early'.  In a statement signed by WOCO's Director of Media, Gboyega Adeoye, the group said series of vandalisation were visited on posters and billboards of Dr Wole Oluyede, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), across the state by perceived political opponents. LAGOS ASSEMBLY CONFIRMS SANWO-OLU'S NOMINEE

  The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Mr. Salami Sikiru Adeniji, a nominee of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the substantive Auditor-General of the State. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, announced the confirmation following a voice vote of members of the House during plenary. Mr. Salami had earlier appeared before the lawmakers for screening. In another development, the Lagos State anti-corruption and transparency commission (amendment) bill 2022 scaled second reading on the floor of the House after which Dr. Obasa committed it to the Committee on Judiciary for further action. Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa 2) and Hon. Victor Akande, while contributing to the debate on the bill, commended their colleagues for acting responsively and responsibly. Nigeria receives US$1 million to boost food and nutrition needs of troubled Katsina, Zamfara, Borno

  Nigeria has been given US$1 million from Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to boost food and nutrition needs in Katsina, Zamfara and Borno states. The fund was given to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in 2021 as part of an ECOWAS humanitarian assistance to the Nigerian Government for victims of violent conflicts in North West and North East Nigeria.   According to a statement on Thursday by WFP, the fund from ECOWAS was granted to the government of Nigeria from the ECOWAS Regional Stabilization Fund. The Government of Nigeria accordingly sought the collaboration of WFP in Nigeria to apply the fund for alleviating food and nutrition needs in Katsina, Zamfara and Borno states.   The programme targeted 840 food insecure households (some 4,196 persons) in Zamfara, Katsina and Borno states with food assistance. A statement on Wednesday by the anti-narcotics agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi said the operatives of NDLEA were at Nukai market, along Jalingo-Wukari road in the Taraba state capital, Jalingo, to arrest Micha Godwin, during which the anti-narcotic officers came under attack and at least seven of them were injured and one of their vehicles damaged. Babafemi said despite the attack, the officers managed to arrest their target after recovering some quantities of illicit drugs from the suspect and thereafter retreated to take the wounded to the hospital for treatment.
