Ndigbo Progressive Movement Warns Against Oct 1st Rally in Lekki
" Peaceful co-existence in Lagos must not be destroyed "
Supporters and Members of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate have been warned not to embark on the planned rally on October 1st in Lekki Lagos..
The warning was handed down on Wednesday by the National president of the group,Mazi Akuna Uche Aloysius in a press release made available to journalists in Lagos, stressing that the planned rally and the threat of a counter rally by some other groups will ultimately affect the peaceful atmosphere in Lagos as well as co-existence of all ethnic nationalities residing in the state of aquatic splendor.
Mazi Akuna equally restated that the planned rally at the Lekki Toll gate will be a sad reminder of the unfortunate mayhem that happened two years ago ,which unfortunately led to destruction of life and property by some misguided youth.
According to Mazi Akuna " we want to warn these faceless characters to stop this planned rally as it's an attempt to cause another mayhem in this state. We won't fail to call the attention of those in authority not to allow the state be thrown into mayhem, using political campaign to achieve their inordinate ambitions. "
Furthermore " the mayhem unleashed on Lagos in October 2020 is still yet to heal,so converging at the place for any political engagement now is tantamount to playing on the graves of those supposedly murdered at the Lekki as well as the police officers and men killed in line of their official duties. Lagos is yet to get it fully back from the wanton destruction of that incident..", Mazi said.
Conclusively, the group urged the police to ensure that such ill conceived rally does not hold ,to prevent a repeat of the madness that characterized the ENDSARS debacle in Lagos state..
