TRAGEDY : LASTMA APPREHEND A TRUCK DRIVER AFTER KILLING MOTOR BOY AT APAPA, LAGOS

Qatar-based businessman in NDLEA Custody Over Drug Trafficking

  Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, a Qatar-based businessman, Agu Amobi, and one other, Uchegbu Obi with consignments of psychoactive substances. A statement on Sunday by the spokesman of the anti-narcotics agency, Femi Babafemi said while Amobi was arrested last Saturday at the departure point of Terminal 2 of the MMIA on his way to Doha, Qatar on a Qatar Airways flight, Obi was taken into custody same day following the seizure of a consignment of 72,000 pills of tramadol 225mg, which he attempted shipping to Kano on a local flight. According to Babafemi, Amobi who claimed he has been living and working in Doha, Qatar for over 10 years was caught with 1.3 kilograms of  cannabis sativa concealed in a bag of foodstuff.   Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the Year 2024 Appropriation Bill of N703,028,013,431.64 earlier presented to it for consideration by Governor Dapo Abiodun.   The Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools of Nigeria (ASUSS) Ogun State chapters have commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the Christmas bonus paid to civil and public servants in the state. The two unions, in their seperate letters of appreciation, signed by the state's Chairman of TUC, Akeem Lasisi, and Comrades Felix Oluwaseun Agbesanwa and Bankole Oluwaseyi, Chairman and Secretary of ASUSS respectively, described Governor Abiodun as a true leader, who has the interest of the state workforce at heart. LONE CRASH : LASTMA RESCUE A DRUNK DRIVER RAMMED INTO ROAD MEDIA AT MARINA, LAGOS.

  Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) early Monday morning rescued a drunk driver who rammed into a road median at C.M.S inward outer Marina area of Lagos. The driver of a Volkswagen Space bus with registration number AAW 56 AA rammed into the road median on top high speed and got trapped. A preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Volkswagen Space bus lost control and rammed into the road median as a result of much intake of alcohol. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has thwarted desperate attempts by transnational criminal organisations to flood Nigerian communities with large quantities of assorted illicit drugs during the yuletide season with the interception of millions of tramadol 225mg pills, thousands of codeine syrup bottles and bags of Canadian Loud in consignments arriving the country ahead of the Christmas celebration. Security: 646 Arrests Made Across National Parks- Conservator General

  As the Federal Government continues to take step to keep the national parks safe and free of criminals, the National Park Service during the year 2023 has made 646 arrests across the country. Addressing the media at the weekend on successes made in 2023, the Conservator General of the National Park Service, Dr. Ibrahim Goni gave the break down of the arrest to include 44 hunters, 222 grazers, 131 loggers, and 249 others, noting that these arrests were made in all the national parks, with Gashaka-Gumti recording the highest number. He said in relation to banditry incidents, 37 suspects were apprehended in connection with mining/banditry in Old Oyo National Park, while Kainji Lake National Park arrested three suspected bandits and neutralized five others.  Goni added that four victims were rescued during these operations conducted within the year, and various items such as motorcycles, phones, and machetes were recovered. Abiodun Approves Bumper Christmas Bonus For Ogun Civil Servants

  Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved an exciting end-of-year package for civil servants in the state.  The bonus, which spans across all levels of the workforce, aims to bring some succour amidst the economic challenges facing the country. The Christmas bonus ranges from 68% to a whopping 159% of the basic salary. Level 01 officers will receive an impressive 159%, while other levels will enjoy varying percentages according to a circular from the office of the State's Head of Service (HoS). Level 02 officers get (165), level 03 (135), level 04 (122), level 05 (113), level 06 (104), level 07 (88), level 08 (81), level 09 (88), level 10 (70). Others are level 12 (80), level 13 (80), level 14 (68), level 15 (70), level 16 (102), and level 17 (84). The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Friday, 23rd of December, 2023 began releasing letters to 267 newly promoted Junior Staff of the Agency as approved and confirmed by the Personnel Management Board on Promotion (Junior Staff Committee). The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan disclosed that promotion of these 267 Junior Officers by the Government was in line with the ongoing strategic repositioning of the Agency for a more effective service delivery to the general public particularly motorists. Mr. Bakare Oki confirmed that while 26 Junior Officers were promoted from Grade level 05 to 06, 241 others were elevated from Grade Level 05 to 06 including males and females.
