  As RTEAN Removes Jafo as Chairman  The Lagos state government has for the upteenth time disclosed that there are two recognized unions in the transportation sector in the state and that other unions should affiliate with any of the two  Information has it that the recognition was as a result of the attempt by some erstwhile leaders of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) to have the motorcycle union stand as a separate Union,like the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) It was reliably gathered that RTEAN has equally removed the Oniba,Oba Jafo as the chairman of the union in the state,fuelling speculation that he has teamed up with those who lost in the supremacy battle in the NURTW to want a control over motorcycle union in the state  With the recognition given the duo of NURTW and RTEAN,there seems to be relative peace as the motorcycle unions, have had to obey and stay under the umbrella of the NURTW and RTEAN,a move applauded by stakeholders in the

WOMEN’S GROUPS ORGANIZES PEACEFUL SIT-IN PROTEST AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN LAGOS

    A coalition of women and civil  rights organizations on Tuesday  held a peaceful sit-in protest in Lagos, coinciding with Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration.  The protest aimed to bring national attention to the increasing incidents of femicide, domestic violence, and gender-based violence (GBV) in the country. The event, organized by leading advocates such as Barrister Toyin Ndidi Taiwo-Ojo of the Stop the Abuse Against Women and Children Foundation and Anthonia Ojenagbon of Tonia Bruised But Not Broken, was a powerful call to action against the systemic marginalization and abuse of women, which persist 64 years post-independence.  The participants expressed their deep concern over the country’s inadequate protection of women’s rights, calling for urgent reforms to address the rampant violence. In her address, Barrister Taiwo-Ojo lamented the entrenched patriarchy in Nigerian society that continues to deny women their rights, equality, and safety at home, in the workplace
