Seals hotels, mansions, bank accounts linked to them, recovers exotic vehicles One of two brothers who serve as major sources of illicit drug supplies in South East and South South parts of the country, Onyeaghalachi Stephen Nwagwugwu, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA after nine years of being on his trail. The elder brother, Eze Kaleb Stephen, who is also wanted, narrowly escaped during the overnight operation carried out simultaneously in their two locations: Umuahia and Ntigha Okpuola community in Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Abia state. Just In: Tears As Lagos Lawmaker Abdul-Sobur Olawale Is Buried

  It was all tears as members and staff of the Lagos State House of Assembly led by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on Wednesday received the body of Hon. Abdul-Sobur Olayiwola Olawale, who passed on in Jos, Plateau State on Tuesday. The remains of the lawmaker arrived at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in the afternoon and was immediately conveyed to his residence in a motorcade that involved Dr. Obasa, lawmakers, the Lagos State Legislators Wives Association (LASLEWA), friends, family and associates of the deceased. The body was later moved to the Ebony Vaults where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, joined the crowd of mourners. The body was interred according to Islamic rites. EKO BRIDGE PARTIAL CLOSURE: LASTMA SET TO ENSURE FREE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AROUND APONGBON AXIS OF LAGOS ISLAND.

Following the partial closure of the Eko Bridge to motorists by the Federal Government, the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Monday, visited Apongbon and its environs as part of efforts to ensure the free flow of traffic around Apongbon axis of Lagos Island. The General Manager (LASTMA), Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, who led an Enforcement Team of the Agency on a working visit to Eko Bridge by Apongbon, disclosed that it is imperative to re-arrange movements and seek alternative routes for motorists, particularly commercial bus drivers operating in and around the entire Apongbon axis. Mr. Oreagba stated further that there is an urgent need to carry out a full impacts assessment of the partial closure on vehicular movement from Tinubu Square, Idumota, Martins Street, Balogun, Apongbon, Broad Street and Nnamdi Azikiwe Street around Lagos Island. OYO DC OPS, WAHEED AYILARA, NOW HEADS SCID IN LAGOS

  The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara to take charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), in Lagos State Police Command. DCP Ayilara had headed the Operations Department in Oyo State Police Command before his Lagos appointment. He succeeds Adegoke M. Fayoade who was transferred to the police Armament Section in Abuja following his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police. A law graduate from the University of Ibadan, the new DC SCID was at a time the Commander of MOPOL 2 with headquarters in Keffi, Lagos. He was also the Chief Superintendent of Police in charge of Administration, CSPA, Lagos Command. In 2020, he was transferred to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, where he was under the tutelage of the current IGP. He is expected to assume office on Monday after the usual handing and taking over routine.    

LASG PAYS N70 MILLION COMPENSATION TO FAMILIES OF SLAIN POLICE OFFICERS

The Lagos State Government has disclosed that it has paid compensation of Seventy Million Naira to security officers who died or got injured in the line of duty in the State since the inception of this administration in May 2019. The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde stated this at the presentation of Five Million Naira cheque to the family of a Rapid Responses Squad (RRS) officer; Superintendent of Police Oluwatobi Peters who died in active service. According to Mr. Ayinde, the State Government provided the monetary support as a token and the government’s efforts at comforting the families left behind maintaining that no amount of financial gift can make up for lost lives and the gallantry of the fallen patriots.  He further disclosed that medical care were also provided for security operatives who got injured while discharging their duty at the expense of the State Government.  The Chief of Staff added that these gesture is one of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s policy
