Breaking: Governor Abiodun Douses tension over BTA differentials for Ogun Muslim Pilgrims

  Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has doused the   palpable tension among the  Ogun State Muslim  Pilgrims by ameliorating  the shortfall in their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) as a result of unexpected  vagaries of the foreign exchange rates. While NAHCON used 1,252.01 per dollar to calculate hajj fare (BTA inclusive) to give 500 USD as BTA to each pilgrim, the CBN released BTA at 1,530.86 per dollar, which gave each pilgrim 415USD instead of 500USD earlier proposed. Going by  this development and in order to give each pilgrim 500USD at the new exchange rate of 1,530.86 per dollar, the differential to be paid for the State 934 pilgrims stood at N119,560,712.70.   In the face of the shorfall therefore,  and in an effort to make  the 934 State pilgrims perform their hajj rites without stress as well as making  them comfortable during the hajj exercise, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun with dispatch, has intervene...

Ogun Disburses Second Tranche of N1bn Operational Grant to Businesses

  Ogun State Government on Wednesday commenced the disbursement of the second phase of the N1billion Operational Grant for Micro and Small scale Enterprises in the state under its OG-cares scheme.  The first disbursement was done in 2023, during which 1,000 entrepreneurs in micro enterprises received N100,000 each, while those in the small scale categories received N350,000 each.  About 2,822 entrepreneurs are expected to benefit from the second phase.   The Community Engagement Team of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency conducted multiple sensitization and awareness programs in Badagry to raise continued awareness on the SGBV Message in the whole of Lagos. The Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, reaffirmed the agency's commitment to spreading the message about sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and the State zero tolerance towards its eradication throughout the state. LASTMA ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF CALL CENTRE WITH TOLL-FREE LINES FOR IMPROVED SERVICE TO MOTORISTS IN LAGOS

  The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) is set to inaugurate a call centre with toll-free lines for providing timely assistance and information to road users while also enabling them to report incidents or misconduct by agency personnel on Lagos roads. Hon. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, highlighted that this initiative aims to enhance LASTMA's reputation and restore public trust in the Agency.  While speaking to Lastma Senior Officers at Oshodi, Hon. Giwa emphasized the centre's role in promoting professionalism among agency officers when interacting with the public. Korea Cultural Centre to Promote Collation of KPop and Afrobeat

  The Korean Cultural Centre has revealed its intention to promote collaboration of Korean Pop (KPop) and Nigerian Afrobeat. This is aimed at cultural integration and promoting both genres of music across Nigeria and Korea and further marketing the two brand worldwide. World Press Freedom Day: FG Promised to Allow Press Freedom

  The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on Friday said the present administration has not in any way violated press freedom, assuring Nigerians that this would continued to be maintained Idris while claiming that the media is largely free in Nigeria, boasted that no single journalist has been incarcerated under the Tinubu administration till date.
