NIGERIA POLICE FORCE REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO DUE PROCESS, INSTITUTIONAL DISCIPLINE, AND THE RULE OF LAW

The Nigeria Police Force notes recent public statements and social media commentary by Mr. Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), concerning the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, Lagos, and an ongoing criminal matter. The Force wishes to place the following facts on record and clarify the status of both the judicial and administrative processes involved. The criminal matter referenced in public commentary was investigated and is now before a court of competent jurisdiction, following the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). As the matter is subjudice, its adjudication rests solely with the judiciary. The Force will not try this case in the media, nor will it allow its outcome to be shaped by public campaigns or commentary seeking to prejudge the officers or parties involved. Court Convicts Fake Lawyer for Impersonation, Possession of Forged NBA Seal in Lagos

Lawal of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday,  August 4,  2026 convicted and sentenced a fake lawyer,  John Nwawuto Anoruo for impersonation and possession of a forged seal of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.   Anoruo, who operates a legal and educational consultancy in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, was arrested by operatives of the EFCC on Monday, April 20, 2026.   His case began after he submitted a petition dated September 22, 2025, to the EFCC on behalf of his clients against the management of Global West Vessel Specialist Nigeria Limited.   Investigations, however, revealed that both the petition and a subsequent Letter of Withdrawal dated March 5, 2026, bore a forged NBA seal, which Anoruo admittedly obtained from an undisclosed business centre in Lagos.   In the course of investigations, the 55-year-old claimed that although he obtained a law degree in 2018 from the University of Nigeria,...

The Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula and the Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II,  has donated the sum of ₦100 million and a brand-new Hilux vehicle to support the operations of the Iru Ekun Security Network, a community-based security initiative established by renowned Yoruba Nation advocate, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho. The royal gesture was announced by Ooni on Tuesday evening during a courtesy visit by Chief Sunday Igboho and members of the Iru Ekun Security Network to the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife.
