Traffic Radio Risk Mitigation Efforts Commended

BUA Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu Blames Middlemen, Other Manufacturers For High Price Of Cement, Despite Increased Production

              *Middlemen making N1000 profit per bag The BUA Group has said that despite its efforts to make cement affordable and available to Nigerians, its efforts have been stifled mainly due to the influence of middlemen and other competitors. The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, disclosed this to State House Correspondents in Abuja when he visited the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. According to him, the Group had increased cement production and slashed the price by 10 per cent per bag. Still, the impact had not been felt primarily due to the activities of middlemen and other manufacturers who did not make corresponding efforts. POLICE NAB TRAFFIC ROBBER, TWO OTHERS

  Officials of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Friday evening arrested a traffic robbery suspect close to Otedola Bridge, Ojodu – Berger, just as it apprehended two other for stealing electrical wire and packs of aluminum frames at separate construction sites in the metropolis.   The robbery suspects, Ayobami Peters (18) was arrested near Otedola Bridge when he led some of his gang members to forcefully obtain money from the driver of a broken down truck descending the slope of Ojodu – Berger into Ojota.   The driver, accompanied by a technician were working on the truck when the gang got to the scene. The driver and technician, who suffered harassment and were held hostage by the dagger wielding Ayobami, got a reprieve when patrolling RRS team got to the scene.   While the other members of the gang fled into the bush, the officers seized Abayomi’s arms and dispossessed him of the dagger before   handcuffing him.   The patrol team was on Tuesday charged by the Commander, RRS, CSP Yinka E

IRT Arrest Female Serial Fraudster, Impersonator

   Security Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Unit have successfully apprehended a suspect, Besida Rukkay, who is known to be a fraudster and an impersonator. The lady, who has been on the wanted list of the IRT for some time, was arrested after thorough tactical moves by the operatives. She is said to have robbed victims of their phones and duped a victim. She also impersonates as a gynaecologist working at the General Hospital, Abuja before her arrest in Abuja on December 13, 2021, it was gathered. FG, Republic of Benin meet over boundary issues

 ☝ Governments of both Nigeria and the Republic of Benin on Friday met over boundary related issues. The two neighbouring countries were led to the meeting by the ministers of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyema (Nigeria) and Aurélien Agbénonci (Republic of Benin). Speaking after the meeting, Onyeama said both countries had very positive and fruitful deliberations on three areas.  He disclosed that the meeting was basically to agree on the modality to resolve everything, without being too legalistic, but more as brotherly countries, to find sensible solutions. FFS, NAF Partner To Combat Incessant Fire Outbreaks

  The leadership of the Federal Fire Service  ( FFS) and the Nigerian Air Force  have agreed to forge their tactical expertise in suppressing and stemming the tide of incessant fire outbreaks in the country. The partnership was sealed when the acting Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Karebo Pere Samson , who is bent on delivering on his mandate on Wednesday, led a delegation of senior firefighters on a courtesy visit to the  Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amoa , at the  headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force. NDLEA destroys 255 hectares of cannabis farms, arrests 13 in Ondo

    Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have destroyed a total of 255 hectares of cannabis farms in five local government areas of Ondo State. A statement on Wednesday by the spokesman of the anti-narcotics agency, Femi Babafemi said the feat was achieved in a major operation that lasted seven days,  Babafemi said in the operation, 13 suspects were also arrested and 250 kilogrammes of cannabis seeds as well as 63.85 kilogrammes cannabis weeds were recovered. According to him, the operation took place deep inside five major forests: Omolowo/Powerline forest; Ipele forest; Ala forest; Ogbese forest; Utte and Okuluse forest that spread across five local council areas of the Sunshine state. Federal Ministry of Finance Fire Incident: No Cause for Alarm- Fire service Boss

  The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Samson Karebo has called for calm, insisting that the fire outbreak at the Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters has been brought under control. FG Commences audit of the detention facility to safeguard detainees' rights

  The Federal Government has flagged off the Police Visitors Week (PSVW) to ensure that detention facilities in the country conform to human rights standards in line with international best practices.  Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Monday at Life Camp Police station, in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu, explained that the programme was aimed at ensuring the rights of detainees in furtherance of the commission's mandate to carry out a periodic audit of places of detention across the country toward ensuring that the practice in the detention facilities conforms to human rights standards.  Ojukwu added that: “Monitors have been sent to one station per geographical zone, to carry out the audit in some police stations in those states."  He revealed that in carrying out the assignment the trained visitors are tasked to collect and document information regarding the police stations, suspects, condition of the detention

We should thank God for the democratic right to participate in the electoral process of electing our leaders.  As you all know, this is a two staged process. The first is intra-party, meaning that our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), will democratically nominate its candidate. The second stage, inter-party, will take place in a state-wide election sometime in July, God willing. For this first stage, I am appealing to all our party members to participate but peacefully in the primary election taking place today. LASPEMA GOES TOUGH ON VIOLATORS OF SETBACKS IN LAGOS.

LAGOS POLICE ARREST SEVEN TRAFFIC ROBBERS

    Officials of Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) this afternoon arrested three traffic robbers at Ikeja City Mall just as National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mile 2 park assisted the police in arresting four notorious traffic robbers in the area.   Four of the suspects, Segun Peters (22), Kabiru Odeh (25), Nurudeen Suraj (22) and Dennis Ikuvbogie (24) were arrested at Mile 2 while having a field day; other suspects, Anifowoshe Kolawole (20), Patrick Ameke (21) and John Britto (27) were picked around Ikeja City Mall  based on complaints on their illicit activities around the area.   The Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, had on a tip off on the activities of traffic robbers in Mile 2 this afternoon deployed plain cloth police men to the area to monitor and arrest the suspects.    The NURTW members had hounded down the four suspects before the officers got there.    The General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authourity (LASTMA), Mr. Bolaji Oreagba has said that henceforth, the Lagos State Government would no longer tolerate any act of assault, physical attack or attempted murder on any official working for the government, especially LASTMA officers. Federal Fire Service Warns Nigerians on Storage of petrol at home

  The Acting Controller General, Federal Fire Service (FFS), Dr Samson Karebo has called on Nigerians to avoid the storage of  Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) also known as Petrol in their homes during this period of  scarcity.  Karebo, in a signed press release by the spokesman of the Service, Abraham Paul reminded that petrol is a dangerous substance; a highly inflammable liquid which gives off vapour which if not handled carefully can cause serious fire explosion.  He said “Nigerians must resist the temptation of storing PMS in their homes or other confined places due to the current challenge of scarcity, as doing that will endanger their lives and that of others."
