Governor Oyetola defeats Two Others at APC Primary election




Governor Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola on Saturday defeated two other aspirants to emerge the winner of the primary election to pick the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state ,that will confront the candidates of other parties in the July 18 gubernatorial election ..



The Governor defeated the former secretary to the state government,Alhaji Adeoti and former deputy speaker of the house of Representatives,Hon. Lasun Yusuf..


The Governor at the election held in all the wards in the state polled two hundred and twenty two thousand,one hundred and sixty nine votes (222,169),while Alhaji Moshood Adeoti scored twelve thousand,nine hundred and twenty one votes (12,921) ,and Hon.Lasun Yusuf scored four hundred and sixty votes (469).


The camp of the former SSG claimed their names were removed from the list of party members, but counter claims came from the Governor's camp that it was a peaceful ,free and fair election. 



By the election,the incumbent Governor will fly the party's flag in the July 18th Gubernatorial election in the state. 


There was jubilation in the state over the victory of governor in the state capital Oshogbo,as well as his iragbiji hometown. 


The Governor equally defeated his predecessor,Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,who is backing the other group in the party,known as the The Osun Progressive (TOP). 


Members of  TOP in the state have bowed to challenge the result before the appeal panel instituted by the party to look into complaints from the primary election.
