APC POSTPONES NATIONAL CONVENTION INDEFINITELY, WRITES INEC

The ruling All progressives Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its national convention indefinitely.

Though the party had earlier scheduled to have it's national convention on Saturday this week, but issues of zoning of offices and the unending intra party crisis have become threat..

The party in a letter signed by the Chairman and Secretary  of the party's Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni and Senator James Akoanudoedehe, intimated Independent National electoral Commission (INEC) of the new development.

According to the letter"this notice supercedes our earlier notice for the national convention referenced APC/NDHQ/INEC/019/22/14. This is predicated on the evaluation of our party constitution. In furtherance to Article 85 of the Electoral Act,2010 (as amended) and compliance with section 12.6 of our party constitution,we hereby write to notify the commission that our great party, All progressives Congress (APC) has scheduled to hold it's zonal congresses on Saturday 26th March 2022".

Continuing"kindly arrange for your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly ,while hoping to receive your cooperation, please accept the assurances of our highest esteem"..

The new date for the national convention was not mentioned in the letter.

A reliable source informed that the knotty issues of zoning and crisis in some states have not yet been resolved and the tendencies in the party  are struggling for the soul of the party in preparation for 2023 presidential election..
