Osun: Group Calls for violence free Primary election





Ahead of the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) primary election to elect its flag bearer in the July 2022 governorship election in the state, a civil society organization, Centre for Democracy and Socio-Economic Rights ((CEDESER) has advised the party leaders and members to eschew violence and all form of undemocratic tendencies and tactics during the conduct of the primary on Saturday 19 February 2022. 


In a statement issued by the group’s President, Comrade Michael Popoola Ajayi said in the light of the recent outburst by the key leaders and gladiators in the Osun State Chapter of APC cum the vituperations by their leg men, we want to use this medium to appeal to the leaders and their supporters to ensure a violent free, transparent and fair primary election and be ready to accept the outcomes of the poll in good faith.


Speaking further, the group also enjoins the leadership of the party and the contending groups not to embark on any adventure or misadventure that could threaten the fragile peace in the state through any form of undemocratic tactics in their desperation to be victorious at the poll.  


Concluding, the group also advised the Kwara State governor, AbdulRhaman Adulrazak led team saddles with the responsibility of superintending the primary by the national leadership of the party to ensure all the party’s guidelines are duly are followed for the conduct of the election and see to it that no member of the party is denied the opportunity to freely vote the candidate of his or her choice.
