ADC Concludes Ekiti Congress, Elects Officers

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ekiti State has held its state congress with the emergence of Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo, as State Chairman of the Party.

Hon. Omolayo, former Chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council, (IPAC), Ekiti State chapter, expressed delight for the successful conduct of the exercise.

Also elected to serve on the State Executive Committee of the party are  Alhaji Teslim Animasahun, Deputy Chairman and Obanla Segun Adebayo, as the General Secretary.

Others include Mrs Funke Adebulehin, Women Leader and Gboyega Adeoye as the Publicity Secretary, among others.

The congress was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere in the state capital, Ado Ekiti and witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), led by Mr Austin Orugbo.

Also national officers of the party, represented by Architect Boka Bolewu, monitored the congress.

In his acceptance speech, the elected chairman, Omolayo, noted that the decision of the delegates of the party to agree on a harmonised list of state executive members showed a new unity of purpose in ADC.

Hon. Omolayo said, with its united front, the party was poised to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the June 18, 2022 governorship election in the state.

“With this election of a proper executive of the party, the problem in Ekiti ADC is gone.

“The journey to take over the Ekiti State Government House has started.

“Let me remind our members that the ADC is not an opposition party but the alternative in Ekiti State,” he said.

While outlining strategies of the party ahead of the June governorship polls, Hon. Omolayo said the party will soon organise a mega rally to showcase it's strength and acceptability as the potent force to take over the reigns of power in the state, in Ado Ekiti this week.

He further stressed that the lingering rising discontent in the ruling oarty over automatic ticket in forthcoming election is a good omen for the ADC.

“With all humility, we will sweep off the Fayemi administration on June 18, 2022. ADC is poised to take over in Ekiti State.

“The Ogas and Madams at the top (an apparent reference to Fayemi and his wife, Bisi) choose who they want and when they want them,” he said.

“If you are not chosen, you never serve your people. If they choose you, you will only serve Oga and Madam and not the people of the State.

“Ekiti is being ruled with failed promises, they promised robust agricultural plan but what you have seen is a robust building of houses by their families and friends,” Hon. Omolayo said.
