Lagos Motorcyclists Comply With Ban Order ..

 




The June 1 deadline on the ban of operation in six local government Councils of Lagos state recorded a huge success on Wednesday, as motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders stayed off the roads in compliance with the order of the state government. 



A visit to all the affected local government areas reveal total compliance as there was no presence of the riders on the roads aside the dispatch riders. 



The affected local government areas concerned are Apapa, Ikeja, Surulere, Lagos Island,Lagos Mainland and Eti-Osa and the riders complied substantially with the order.  



On Abeokuta Express way by Ikeja along,there was heavy presence of security personnel all through to Oshodi. 



On Ikorodu road,the road was deserted by the riders and heavy presence also..



Majority of the motorcyclists who spoke with cityblognews appealed to the state governor to rescind his decision of the ban,but rather organize the operations of the riders . 



They promised to comply with any of the regulations put in place by the state government. 


Earlier in the morning,there was palpable fear among residents in the affected local government Councils as they are afraid that they may be attacked by the riders ,who are displeased with the decision of the state government. 


On 18th of May, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu announced a total ban on the operations of motorcyclists in six council areas of the state.
