RRS REWARDS OUSTANDING OFFICERS, TEAMS


 

Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) this afternoon rewarded some of its officers and teams for their outstanding performances and gallantry at their beats.

 

The awards include 5 individuals rewarded for their outstanding contributions to the performance of the squad and eleven teams’ awards for sterling gallantry.

 


Some of the teams rewarded with commendation letters included: team that intercepted a busload of illicit drugs and turned down a bribe of N500,000:00; recovery of a AK 47 and Pump action gun; recovery of robbers’ loot and pistols; recovery of three locally made guns among others.

 

Presenting the awards, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Chief of Staff, Mr Olawale Musa commended all the awardees for their contributions toward security in the state. He urged them to see the award as a token of appreciation of their efforts.

 

The award, which was designed to encourage hardworking officers, was also meant to motivate other officers to be alive to their responsibilities and imbibe the values of modern policing.

LASTMA ARRAIGNS 12 OFFICERS BEFORE DISCIPLINARY PANEL FOR VARIOUS OFFENSES BOTHERING ON CORRUPT PRACTICES, ABSENTEEISM

  .........11 Officers indicted as panel final reports recommended dismissal, reduction in rank, compulsory retirement for Officers Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Thursday,  arraigned 12 Officers before Disciplinary Panel for various Offenses bothering on corrupt practices and absenteeism in line with the extant rules as guided by the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations. The Acting General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki Olalekan disclosed that the disciplinary panel which was statutorily constituted with three (3) Permanent Secretaries in attendance adjudicated cases of corrupt practices levied against these 12 Officers and forwarded their recommendations to the State Civil Service Commission for ratification in line with the Public Service Rules. LASTMA GETS NEW GENERAL MANAGER.

    Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved with immediate effect the appointment of Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan as the Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). A statement by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transportation Mr. Olawale Musa noted that the appointment of Mr. Bakare-Oki Olalekan is for better performance, eradicating incidences of misdemeanors among staffs and continued efficient/effective traffic management on Lagos roads. Bakare-Oki Olalekan joined the Lagos State Public Service on the April 25, 2000 and rose through the ranks over the years to the post of Deputy Director, Logistics and Engineering Department of LASTMA, before his new appointment as General Manager. He holds a Masters Degree in Transportation Planning and Management from University of Lagos and has attended several capacity-building programmes on inter-modal traffic management systems locally and internationally.
