Erelu Mabel Tinuola Onaneye Blasts Obasanjo for desecrating Royal institution, Urges him to Apologize

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has come under heavy criticism over his unguided utterances in Iseyin Oyo state, where he ordered crowned kings to stand up and accord him and the Governor respect. .

In a viral video on Sunday morning, Erelu Oodua, HRH Mabel Tinuola Onaneye described the action of the former president as "embarrassment to the royal institution, which she holds in high esteem and protects with all her strength , stressing that "Baba Obasanjo desecrated our highly respected culture and traditions by ordering our highly revered kings around as if they are high " boys".

Erelu Onaneye bitterly expressed her displeasure over what she claimed to be " unwarranted attack on the custodians of our culture and traditions , by a former president, who has no value to add to the Yoruba race .

In her words " I hardly pass my message via video, but this is very critical , die to the unwarranted attack on our royal institution by baba Obasanjo. It was at the foundation laying of a campus of LAUTECH in Iseyin Oyo state, where the ex president, in his usual garrulous manner ordered all our royal fathers to stand up to accord respect to the governor. As a defender and  promoter of Yoruba culture and traditions, I strongly feels that such is irresponsible and unnecessary, as it violates their dignity as royal fathers. Baba Obasanjo should as a matter of urgency , tender unreserved apologies to our royal fathers and desist from desecrating our noble royal institutions, stressing that politicians have terminal dates , but the royal institution does not. '

She equally lambasted the royal Father for their cowardice as they ought to have vehement resisted such an order  and that they have relegated themselves before the political class.

Erelu Onaneye promised to continue to champion the protection of Yoruba culture and traditions.
