Ekiti Guber 2026: Rain Fails to Stop Massive Turnout as Ikere Rallies Behind Oluyede
Thousands of residents of Ikere Local Government Area on Monday defied heavy rainfall to attend the governorship campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, in a remarkable show of support ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The rally turned into a carnival-like atmosphere as party supporters, youths, women groups, artisans, traders, and community stakeholders thronged the venue, chanting solidarity songs and expressing confidence in the candidacy of the Ikere-born governorship hopeful.
Despite the downpour, supporters remained at the venue, dancing and celebrating while repeatedly chanting, "Oluyede De! Ibo Witi Witi!" and "Congratulations Ekiti Kete!" in what observers described as one of the largest political gatherings witnessed in the area in recent times.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Dr. Oluyede thanked the people of Ikere for the overwhelming reception and assured them that their support would inspire him to work tirelessly for the development of Ekiti State.
He described the massive turnout, despite the rain, as a clear demonstration of the determination of Ekiti people to embrace a new era of responsible leadership, economic growth, and people-centered governance.
Dr. Oluyede pledged that his administration would prioritize youth empowerment, job creation, agricultural development, quality education, improved healthcare delivery, and infrastructure renewal across the state.
He also promised to revive local industries, support small and medium-scale enterprises, create opportunities for young entrepreneurs, and implement policies aimed at improving the welfare of workers, farmers, traders, and artisans.
According to him, Ekiti possesses enormous human and natural resources capable of driving sustainable development and creating prosperity for all citizens if properly harnessed.
The PDP candidate urged residents to remain steadfast in their support for the party and to participate actively in the electoral process by collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and voting on election day.
"Your votes will determine the future of our state. I encourage every eligible voter to collect their PVC and remain committed to the democratic process. Together, we can build a better and more prosperous Ekiti State," he said.
Dr. Oluyede further assured the people that his administration would be transparent, accountable, and accessible, emphasizing that government must serve the interests of the people at all times.
The rally ended with renewed enthusiasm as supporters continued to celebrate and dance in the rain, expressing confidence that the PDP candidate enjoys widespread acceptance across Ekiti State ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
