Breaking News:Baby, One Other Trapped As Lagos Building Collapses

  A one-storey building collapsed on Friday morning at the Ebute-metta area of Lagos State.  The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, in a statement, confirmed that a baby and a female adult were trapped in the rubble.  The statement read, "The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending to an emergency which was reported at 09:00 hours to 122, Herbert Macaulay Way, Lagos Bus Stop, Ebute Meta, Lagos where a one storey building with penthouse has collapsed and two adults and a baby, all females are still trapped with search and rescue ongoing.  "However, an adult female has been rescued alive in stable condition as the State Emergency Response fully activated."

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) today rescued 3 commercial bus passengers involved in a serious accident at Anthony - Oke inward Oshodi, Lagos. The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of (LASTMA) Mr Adebayo Taofiq, in a press statement confirmed that the three (3) passengers (2 females & 1 male) were rescued in a serious accident involving a Volkswagen Commercial 'T4' bus (EPE 399 YC) and a 'Homo' Truck (T 20174 LA). Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the 'Homo' Truck drove recklessly and crushed a Commercial Volkswagen 'T4' bus while on motion as a result of a brake failure. Food Security: Zulum announces 7 pilot irrigation schemes in Borno

  …Assesses Mafa water works, orders reticulation  Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has announced seven pilot communities for his administration’s irrigation plan that aims to key into the national food security initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.  The seven irrigation schemes are to be sited at Gajibo in Dikwa, Jafi in Kwaya Kusar, Baga in Kukawa, Logumani in Ngala, Damasak in Mobbar, Dadin Kowa in Bayo and Mafa Local Government Areas.  Governor Zulum made the announcement on Wednesday in Mafa, stating that the initiative was to key into President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda to ensure food security in Nigeria.  “You can see the establishment of the Mafa irrigation scheme has started; we have so far identified a number of farmers and we have provided them with agricultural inputs.
