NDLEA Opens 24/7 Call Centre to Assist People with Drug Related Issues

  Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) has commissioned a modern 24/7 call centre set up to attend to Nigerians from all parts of the country with needs on drug related issues. Speaking at the commissioning, Marwa said that drug users and addicts no longer have excuse not to seek treatment with the commissioning of the modern 24/7 call centre set up to attend to Nigerians from all parts of the country. The NDLEA call centre with toll free helpline is manned by professionals and experts in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology and psychiatry among others. According to Marwa, “the provision of this toll-free helpline is a milestone in our resolve to broaden access to quality health care for drug users in the country. Brazilian Returnee Arrested with Cocaine in Private Part

  A Nigerian returning from Brazil, Igwedum Benson has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos with pellets of cocaine concealed in his private part. Igwedum, according to a statement on Sunday by the spokesman of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, was nabbed at the Lagos airport last Monday upon his arrival on Ethiopian Airlines from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa.  Babafemi said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had swallowed 50 wraps of cocaine before departing Brazil and excreted 48 pellets in Addis Ababa where he handed them over to another person.  According to the spokesman, Igwedum claimed he was unable to excrete the remaining two wraps at the hotel room in Addis Ababa before boarding his flight but later excreted them in the aircraft restroom during the flight from Ethiopia to Lagos. RRS Gets Nomination as Best Special Security Squad Award

  Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has been nominated as the Best Special Security Squad in West and Central Africa. The squad was nominated by the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and International Award's Panel of Judges of Africa Security Watch Award at a meeting held in Ghana in March, 2022. The organiser in a letter jointly signed by Mr Patrick Agbambu, the award's International Coordinator/CEO, and Prof  Henri Fouche, it's Chair, International Awards Panel of Judges, the nomination was “anchored on your squad's operational dexterity, responsiveness, proactiveness and commitment to the protection  of lives and property in Lagos, which we found to be exemplary in West Africa". The award ceremony is billed to take place at the Movenpick Grand Al Bustan, Dubai, United Arab Emirate between Ă‘ovember 8th and 10th, 2022.

  A Coalition of Civil Society Organizations across the country has passed a vote of confidence on the administration of governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, over his performance in the last three and half years. Addressing newsmen, in Osogbo, the state capital on Thursday after a two-day projects assessment tour, the National Coordinator,  Activist For Good Governance, Declan Ihekaire, said the administration of Governor Oyetola is giving Osun State a rewarding future.
