NDLEA Opens 24/7 Call Centre to Assist People with Drug Related Issues

  Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd) has commissioned a modern 24/7 call centre set up to attend to Nigerians from all parts of the country with needs on drug related issues. Speaking at the commissioning, Marwa said that drug users and addicts no longer have excuse not to seek treatment with the commissioning of the modern 24/7 call centre set up to attend to Nigerians from all parts of the country. The NDLEA call centre with toll free helpline is manned by professionals and experts in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology and psychiatry among others. According to Marwa, “the provision of this toll-free helpline is a milestone in our resolve to broaden access to quality health care for drug users in the country. This has become a necessity and a strategic intervention in our determined effort to bring under control the increasing cases of drug use disorder and related health concerns.” He said though the country

Brazilian Returnee Arrested with Cocaine in Private Part

  A Nigerian returning from Brazil, Igwedum Benson has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos with pellets of cocaine concealed in his private part. Igwedum, according to a statement on Sunday by the spokesman of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, was nabbed at the Lagos airport last Monday upon his arrival on Ethiopian Airlines from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Addis Ababa.  Babafemi said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had swallowed 50 wraps of cocaine before departing Brazil and excreted 48 pellets in Addis Ababa where he handed them over to another person.  According to the spokesman, Igwedum claimed he was unable to excrete the remaining two wraps at the hotel room in Addis Ababa before boarding his flight but later excreted them in the aircraft restroom during the flight from Ethiopia to Lagos. The squad was nominated by the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and International Award's Panel of Judges of Africa Security Watch Award at a meeting held in Ghana in March, 2022.   The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state in the gubernatorial election that took part in the state has emerged victorious in the election.   In the result released by INEC,the APC Candidate,Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji won in fifteen out if the sixteen local government areas if the state,while the candidate of the major opposition party,the PDP,Mr Bisi Kolawole won in his Efon Alaye local government,while former Governor Segun Oni of the social Democratic Party (SDP) didn't win any local government,aside his polling booth and ward.  The election was characterized by impressive turn out of voters across the sixteen local government areas of the state.  This will be the first time in the history of the state when an incumbent Governor will be installing a successor.

UK promises £1million support to NDLEA as Marwa seeks more help

  The United Kingdom has said it will provide One Million Pounds (£1million) worth of support to enhance the operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA in 2022 and additional provision over a period of three years. This was disclosed by the Director, Home Office International Operations, Nick Fowler when he led a team comprising Julie Hartfree, Africa Regional Director and Kris Hawksfield, West Africa Regional Manager, both of Home Office International Operations on a courtesy visit to the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig.   Barely twenty four hours to the special convention to elect the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),President Muhammadu Buhari and the Governors of the northern state of the country are in a closed door meeting.  Information gathered that though most of the governors have arrived the federal capital territory for the convention,but they were not in the know of the meeting exclusively with Mr President.. A reliable source at the villa informed that,the meeting which was called at the instance of the president may not be unconnected with the primary election of  the party.   Despite the appeal by Mr President to all the aspirants to meet and come up with a consensus candidate,there has not been resolution as the aspirants continue to meet and mobilize delegates for their aspirations.

Tinubu donates N75million to support victims, says government must strengthen security

All Progressives Congress National Leader and frontline presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Monday promised to work with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to bring succour to the victims of Owo Massacre. Lagos Motorcyclists Comply With Ban Order ..

  The June 1 deadline on the ban of operation in six local government Councils of Lagos state recorded a huge success on Wednesday, as motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders stayed off the roads in compliance with the order of the state government.  A visit to all the affected local government areas reveal total compliance as there was no presence of the riders on the roads aside the dispatch riders.  The affected local government areas concerned are Apapa, Ikeja, Surulere, Lagos Island,Lagos Mainland and Eti-Osa and the riders complied substantially with the order.   On Abeokuta Express way by Ikeja along,there was heavy presence of security personnel all through to Oshodi.  On Ikorodu road,the road was deserted by the riders and heavy presence also.. Majority of the motorcyclists who spoke with cityblognews appealed to the state governor to rescind his decision of the ban,but rather organize the operations of the riders .  They promised to comply with any of the regulations p
