GOVERNMENT DISMISSES ANXIETY OVER OKADA BAN

    The Lagos State Government has noted the anxiety that has followed the planned enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles in six local government areas as from June 1. The local governments are: Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Apapa, Eti-Osa and Ikeja. The law enforcement agencies according to a statement by the Commissioner for information and strategy ,Mr Gbenga Omotosho disclosed went on a roadshow today to assure the public that the ban, which was announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on May 18, after a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, will be enforced without any compromise. There is no need for any anxiety over the enforcement of the ban, which has been hailed by the majority of Lagosians as a reinforcement of the Lagos Traffic Law 2012 (amended in 2018). Tinubu appears before APC screening panel

All Progressives Congress National Leader and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has undergone a successful screening process before the Chief John Odigie Oyegun-led APC Screening Committee.  The Committee screening the 23 aspirants contesting to be President of Nigeria on the platform of APC is holding the exercise at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja.   The Governor of Lagos state,Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu on Thursday emerged  as the winner of the state's primary election to pick the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the  election next year.  The announcement threw the entire stadium into frenzy as friends,political leaders and aides of the governor joined him to celebrate his victory.    A 59-year old drug baroness, who has tentacles in Delta State and adjourning states has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) when her palatial mansion where she cooks and distributes crack, cocaine, methamphetamine and other illicit substances was raided.   The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ekiti State has held its state congress with the emergence of Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo, as State Chairman of the Party. Hon. 2 pregnant women, among arrested drug traffickers by NDLEA

  Two pregnant women are among drug traffickers arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for attempting to import and export illicit drugs through the airport over the last week. According to a statement on Sunday by the spokesman of NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, the first to be caught by the agency’s dragnet is a Brazilian returnee, Nworie Chikwendu, who was arrested last Tuesday during an inward clearance of passengers on Qatar Airways flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil enroute Doha to Lagos. Babafemi said during a thorough search of his luggage, two parcels of cocaine were discovered concealed in a pair of brown slippers hidden in his oxblood backpack, and during a further search of the pair of black slippers worn by the suspect also led to the recovery of additional two parcels of cocaine built into the soles of his foot wears, bringing the total to four parcels weighing 800 grammes. Ademola Adeyemi Owoade, popularly known as Eni Wa, on Tuesday officially declared his intention to run for Osun State House of Assembly seat to represent Irewole/Isokan in 2023 general election. The event which witnessed large turnout of party chieftains, National Delegates, members and representatives of major ethnic groups was held at the aftermath of extensive consultations with various stakeholders in Irewole/Isokan constituency, comprising traditional rulers, leaders of Community Development Committee (CDCs) and Community Development Association (CDAs), traders’ unions, including market men and women.
